PCD, PCBN insert grinding
Indexable inserts are gaining more and more popularity in the field of machining recently.
The indexable inserts are components carrying a cutting edge, which is then attached into a machining tool and used for machining steel, wood, plastics, etc. Most inserts can be rotated, so that cutting edges can be used multiple times. Inserts are typically made of superhard materials such as polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN), tungsten carbide, cermet, and ceramics.
Grinding wheels sintered with vitrified bond are usually recommended for inserts sharpening due to their excellente thermal stability and porosity, which allows the coolant liquid to be delivered more efficiently to the area of contact. We have plenty of vitrified bond formulas (porous or more compact) that have great durability, shape retention and self sharpening ability.
