Centerless grinding
During the centerless grinding, the workpiece is located between two wheels, rotating in the same direction at different speeds. There is no spindle used to secure the workpiece. There are two main types of centerless grinding. Centerless grinding can be divided according to the operation of grinding and according to feed. According to the operation of grinding, there is external and internal grinding. During external centerless grinding the workpiece is situated between two wheels, one is a grinding wheel and the other is regulating. Grinding wheel rotates with higher speed and regulates with slower speed in the same direction. While during internal centerless grinding, the grinding wheel is placed inside the workpiece and rotated by the regulating wheel. According to the methods of feed, centerless grinding can be divided into three groups – through feed centerless grinding, infeed centerless grinding and end feed centerless grinding.
